It isn't even mentioned in the release notes and you have to explicitly disable it with commandline flags for each account...

Wow, what a ridiculous default value on imapsync... wtf.. I updated it and now it sends me an email every time it performs sync for an account.. so two every 30 seconds. That's fucking useless and pointless.

Thinking about how there are 3 expendables movies with the same cast because none of them are really expended while the last suicide squad movie killed off like 80% of their characters in one go.

@rune @Gargron I am pretty sure it's now faster to cold boot Windows 10 than load Gmail in a browser tab.

it's so infuriating how all the "smart" people now talk about inflation caused by US stimulus checks when PPP loans cost about the same after they were mostly forgiven, creating just as much surplus money.

day 2 of using compiz in xfce:
hehehe windows wobbly hehe :)

Gmail is so slow I had to explain to my grandmother that nothing was wrong with her computer, the website is just slow for no reason.

I'm pretty sure all the dots are concentrated on the last 2 days because I force restarted all the application at the same time at the start of this week.

Show thread

But check out this cool graph it gives me

Every dot on the baseline 2 is an application instance getting oom killed. And then we have those dots up around 7.. Imagine crashing 6 times in one hour.

Show thread

There's no way this isn't impacting customers, but apparently not enough that they complain and that's why there's no pressure to fix it.

I created an elaborate alarm to even catch this. And every single time it happens there's an alert in our alerting system for a full hour. Everyone knows these applications crash _all the time_.

Show thread

Sometimes I think about how there are computer scientists that worry about proving correctness.
And then there are two of our dev teams that have just accepted that their applications crash from memory leaks 33 and 63 times a week respectively.

This isn't even an anarchism post. Being proud of your country is just plain bad. You can be proud of something it does, but it's not a consistent entity and it will do bad things you should never be proud of.

But, you know, not the bad kind of patriots. The good kind.

Show thread

This is funny to post/say cause if an American hears it there are good odds they'll have a small stroke and babble something at you about how it's actually good

Secretly I'm blaming Red Hat support. Fuck I spent a lot of time and effort trying to report issues to them back in the day when I worked somewhere with paid support.. Cannot recommend paying for Red Hat support 👎

Show thread

I don't even have the energy to report this..

It's so obscure I just know it'll take tons of effort to even convince them it's a real bug.
